Jerry B. Jenkins Favorite Verse

Authors of Left Behind: The Kids, Jerry B. Jenkins has  favorite Bible verses just like many of you. Here they are:

  • Matthew 5:16, In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
  • Psalm 91:1-2, Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Honoring the Fallen Soldiers

Happy Memorial Day to my American readers!
Praise God for those who have served, are serving, and will serve in the American military.

During the Tribulation, I imagine soldiers all over the world will still exist. Towards the end of the Tribulation, and in book 40 (Triumphant Return) believers and unbelieves fought in Israel and Petra for their cause. That was the ultimate war. In the book, many died, including some main characters. It was devastating and destructive, but soon after, Jesus returned and the millennium began. The point of this little overview is that those who were believers in God fought for their cause. That is something many do today, but not enough. Be a soldier for God, and fight for Him.

Seven Bowls of God's Wrath

There are three groups of the Judgments. The Seals, Trumpets, and Seven Bowls of God's Wrath. They are scattered throughout Revelation, but I have written an overview of each judgment. Ealier I did the first seven, the Seals. Yesterday I did the second seven, the Trumpets. Here are the third seven, the Seven Bowls of God's Wrath. They are the worst of all.

Group 3 of Judgments: The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath

1. There will be painful sores on those with the mark of the beast or those who worship him. Rev. 16:2 I think they will be like the boils people had from the plague in Egypt in Exodus 9:8-9.

2. The sea will be turned to blood. Everything in the sea will die. Rev. 16:3.

3. The rivers and springs of water will be turned to blood. Rev. 16:4-7.

4. The sun will be given the power to kill people with fire. Rev. 16:8-9.

5. There will be darkness. The unsaved people will be angry with God for doing this. They still have the sores. Rev. 16:10-11

6. The Euphrates River will be dried up. Spirits of Demons will trick people into doing evil. They will be like false prophets, and will deceive non believers. Rev. 16:12-16. (Also, demons that have been in the river will come out and there will be three that take the form of frogs, and they will come out of the mouth of the Dragon, The Beast, and the False Prophet, and they too will be deceivers.)

7. There will be a lot of lightning, rumbling, hundred pound hail stones, and the greatest earthquake the world has ever seen. This is the final seal. This will happen at Armageddon. Rev. 16:17-21

Trumpets

There are three groups of the Judgments. The Seals, Trumpets, and Seven Bowls of God's Wrath. They are scattered throughout Revelation, but I have written an overview of each judgment. Yesterday I did the first seven, the Seals. Here are the second seven, the Trumpets.

Group 2 of Judgments: The Trumpets

1. Hail and Fire mixed with blood fell onto the earth. 1/3 of earth is burned. 1/3 of all trees are burned. All green grass is burned. Rev. 8:7.

2. An object like a huge mountain will be ablaze then thrown into the sea. 1/3 of the sea will turn into blood. 1/3 of sea creatures die. 1/3 of all ships will be destroyed. Rev. 8:8-9.

3. A star will fall on 1/3 of rivers. The stars name will be Wormwood. 1/3 of water turned bitter. Many people will die from the bitter water. Rev. 8:10-11.

4. 1/3 of the sun will be struck with darkness. 1/3 of the moon and stars were struck with darkness too. Because of this, 1/3 of light will be gone.

An eagle will cry, “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!” Rev. 8:12-13

5. A star will fall to earth. It is given a key to the shaft Abyss. When it is opened, smoke will rise. Locusts will come out the smoke. They will hurt who do not have the seal of God on their forehead. The people will not die, but they will be in great pain. Rev. 9:1-11.

6. The four horsemen are released and kill 1/3 of mankind. They kill with fire, smoke, and sulfur that will come from their mouths. Rev. 9:13-21.

7. The first part of this seal is confusing. It is a little unclear. Rev. 10. However…..

Revelation 11:15-19. Heaven will be opened and God will judge. On earth there will be flashes of lightning, rumblings, pearls of thunders, a hailstorm, and another earthquake. (This earthquake will be worse than the first.) (This earthquake will most likely happen after AntiChrist rises from the dead, and will probably only happen in the city from where he rose.)

Seals

There are three groups of the Judgments. The Seals, Trumpets, and Seven Bowls of God's Wrath. They are scattered throughout Revelation, but I have written an overview of each judgment. Here are the first seven, the Seals.

Group 1 of Judgments: The Seals

1. A white horse. The rider has a crown. It’s not very specific, but it sounds like the Anti-Christ. It is the 18 month peace period. Rev. 6:1-2

2. A red horse. Power to keep peace, and to get people to kill each other. Rev. 6:3-4.

3. A black horse. It talks about a food shortage. Rev. 6:5-6.

The first three Seals are very confusing and unclear to me. ¼ of the population will die at this time.

4. A pale horse. The riders name is Death. He is given the power to kill by sword, famine, plague, and wild beasts. Rev. 6:7-8.

5. Those who were killed for their beliefs ask God how long it will be until he will kill those who killed them. The ones who were martyred are given white robes. They are told to wait longer until the murderers will be killed. Rev. 6:9-11.

6. The Great Earthquake. The moon will turn blood red. The Sun will go black. Everything is moved from its place. Stars fall from to the sky onto earth. Rev. 6:12-14.

People will hide in mountains and caves wanting and pleading to die. This is the Wrath of the Lamb. Rev. 6:15-17.

7. This is the final seal judgment. During this time, there will be silence in heaven for half an hour, this leading up to and making preparation for the next woes ( or the Trumpets). Rev. 8:1

Revelation 12

There are 22 chapters in the book of Revelation. Chapter 12 is one of the more confusing chapters. A friend of mine has a blog about the Tribulation. She is an avid reader of Revelation and enjoys studying it. Here is a post about Revelation 12:

"Revelations 12 talks about the woman and the dragon and it can be a very confusing chapter. But for right now, I want to single in a little more on just one verse.

In Revelations 12:6 it says,

Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days.

a lot of symbolism in this chapter. The woman represents Israel. Its saying in this chapter that there will be a safe haven for Israel in the last half of the Tribulation (1260 days equals three and a half years). Many scholars believe there will be separate safe havens for non-believing Israelis and believing Israelis and other believing Jews."

Ryan Daley: Pre-Rapture

The answer to yesterday's trivia question is...13 years old!

This is a little preview of what Ryan's life was like before the rapture.

Ryan Daley

Ryan and his parents ignored the truth. Unlike the others, Ryan did not grow up in a Christian home. Ryan’s best friend, Raymie Steele, would explain God’s love to him. Ryan would go and ask his parents about God, but they would tell him it is just a fantasy. Ryan was in middle school before the rapture. He was a typical kid. He enjoyed playing tag and hide-and-go-seek. He doesn’t like being alone, he prefers to have someone around. He was pretty immature before the rapture. Ryan was home alone, his dad was on a plane, and his mom was going to the O’Hare Airport to pick up Mr. Daley, when people vanished, right out of their clothes.

Trivia Question: What happened to Ryan's father after the Rapture?

Lionel Washington: Pre-Rapture

The answer to yesterday's trivia question is...Eddie!

This is a little preview of what Lionel's life was like before the rapture.

Lionel Washington

Lionel was always a phony. He grew up in a Christian atmosphere. His parents, siblings, and even long distance cousins were Christians. Lionel acted like he believed in God, but he was more interested in the way of his uncle, Andre Dupree. Uncle Andre was a drug dealer, an alcoholic, and a thief. Lionel wasn’t interested in going to jail or becoming an alcoholic, but he admired the risk Andre took. His mom, Lucinda, knew Cameron “Buck” Williams, because she was the senior editor of Global Weekly. His older sister, Clarice, knew Vicki because she rode the bus with her. One evening Lionel was excited to get a visit from Andre. They slept in the basement, and when Lionel woke up, he was shocked to find his family (except for Andre) were gone.

Trivia Question: How old was Lionel when the Rapture occurred?

Vicki Byrne: Pre-Rapture

The answer to yesterday's trivia question is the O'Hare Airport.

This is a little preview of what Vicki's life was like before the rapture.

Vicki Byrne

Vicki was a rebel. She tried to 'fit in' with the wrong crowd. She lived in a trailer park with her dad, Tom, her mom, Dawn, and her younger sister, Jeanni. She had an older brother who was away at college in Michigan. She felt that she needed to be tough, in order to appear cool, since all the kids in school looked down on kids who lived in trailer parks. Her parents smoked and drank alcohol a lot. She took after them and would sneak away from her trailer at night to smoke and drink. When she was twelve (two years before the rapture), a pastor came to the trailer park during a wild party and preached. Her parents and her younger sister accepted Jesus into their hearts. Even her brother, who was in Michigan believed. Her family tried to tell her the truth of the word of God, but she wouldn’t listen. She always thought her parents were crazy to believe in God, and to think that Jesus would come back one day. That is, until one night, when everything turned upside down, and her parent’s predictions of Jesus’ return had come true.

Trivia Question: When the Rapture happened, Vicki tried to call her older brother. What is his name?

Judd Thompson: Pre-Rapture

This is a little preview of what Judd's life was like before the rapture:

Judd Thompson Jr.

Judd didn't believe in God. He would wear dark clothes and try to act as “un-Christian” as possible. At church he would make it known that he was not interested and didn’t care about anything that was being said. He was light skinned with short hair and a goatee (a patch of hair on his chin). He was skinny and in pretty good shape. He did not get along with his mom and dad, Judd Thompson Sr. He loved his younger brother and sister Mac and Marci, but was embarrassed by them. He wanted to get out of his parents rule, so he decided to steal money from his dad and run away to Europe. On the plane is when the rapture occurred. His parents and siblings were taken during the rapture, but Judd had been left behind.

*Each day I will post a trivia question about the character. See if you can get all four!

Right before the Rapture Judd attempted to escape his parents and go to England. What airport did he leave Mt. Prospect from?

*In honor of every mother out there, Happy Mother's Day! Without mothers there would be no people on earth. The first ever mother was Eve, who was created right after Adam, the first human on earth. Mary, the mother of Jesus is the most famous mother in the world. Thank you, mothers, for sacrificing your time, patience, and life for you children.

Interview with Chris Fabry

A few months ago I e-mail co-author of Left Behind: The Kids Christ Fabry. He graciously agreed to answer a few questions. This is an old post, but my favorite of all time! Enjoy!

Hi Mr. Fabry!
I absolutely love your book series Left Behind The Kids! Here are some questions I would be delighted if you would answer:
1.       Is there a Left Behind The Kids movie or T.V. show in the future?
"I haven’t heard definitively. They were trying to make a movie or TV series for a while and it got hung up. I think there are still people who would love to see that."
2.       What was it like working with Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins?
"It was a lot of fun. I wrote 35 of the books with them over a period of several years. The most fun was to take what had happened to the adults and fit the same thing with the kids. I remember one book where the locusts were zooming in and one kid takes a baseball to one of them."
3.       How long did it take to write each book?
"I worked with Jerry on the plot, then put my head down and wrote for probably 5 weeks or so. I edited, sent it to him, he edited, then we sent it to the publisher and started on the next one."
4.       What kind of outcome did you expect with the book series? Were you surprised at the outcome?
"I wasn’t surprised at how many sold because the adult series had already sold so many copies. The surprise was the spiritual wallop—people writing and telling us they had prayed when Vicki or Judd prayed. And others told us they had begun to read the Bible again after thinking it was boring."
5.       Could you please write my blog viewers a short note?
"After the Left Behind: The Kids Series, Jerry and I went on to write a series called Red Rock Mysteries. Then another called The Wormling. I’ve written several novels for adults since then and I attribute being able to work on this series for much of the discipline I need today.
"If you get an opportunity, big or small, allow God to use you right where you are. If you dream of singing on a big stage but you’re stuck washing floors, sing in the hallway and do everything for God’s glory. Then nothing you do will be wasted."

What Will Heaven be Like?

Sadly, some Young Trib Force members and Trib Force Members died during the Tribulation. Most of them were saved, though. They went to Heaven. When Jesus made his Glorious Appearing (in book 40), there was a millennium, and then Earth was restored and perfect. It was literally Heaven on earth! What was Heaven like for those who died during the Tribulation, and even those who were raptured? Let's find out!

The Bible says that Heaven is above the world, that God looks down upon the earth and when Jesus left this earth he ascended "up to Heaven". Mark 16:19

Heaven is a place of light, love, holiness, happiness, righteousness, good, worship, service, joy, peace and eternal life because Jesus is there. The New Jerusalem will be the new capital of the world and the place where those saved gather to worship. There will be no darkness, hate, sin, sadness, unrighteousness, sorrow, or death. Of course when nothing goes wrong and everything is good, you know your in heaven. What a wonderful reward from the Lord our God who loves us and redeemed us!
Here's a little information of heaven:
  • It Is A Place of No More Thirst, Hunger, Sorrow, Pain or Death – Revelation 21:4
  • Heaven Is A Place Where Nothing Can Be Corrupted – Matthew 6:20, Rev. 21:27
  • It Is A Place Of Pleasures Forevermore – Psalm 16:11, 1 Corinthians 2:9
  • It Will Be A Place Of Worship – Revelation 15:4
  • It Will Be A Place Of Constant Illumination – Revelation 21:23.
Heaven is described in the Bible very clearly as an actual place. It is not a feeling or figure of the imagination. Some say that you do not have to die in order to get to heaven, but that when Jesus is in your heart you have heaven in you. I personally am not sure about that, but do not disagree either. I am excited to one day be face to face with God in heaven!

Rapture Series: Day 4

Today is the last day of the four day segment on the Rapture.

Question: When will the Rapture happen?

Answer: No one (except God) knows when the rapture will happen. Many people try to guess when it will happen, but they are wrong. There are many prophocies that must be fufilled before the beggining of the tribulation (which means the prophecies can still be fufilled after the rapture). There are only a handful that haven't been fufilled yet. Most prophocies have been or are being fufilled. I will have a segment on prophecies soon. I mentioned one of the prophocies the other day. Click on the link to see it, Prophecy.

Rapture Series: Day 3

Question: Will the people who have never heard the Gosple be raptured?

Answer: Before the rapture occurs everyone will have a chance to hear the Gosple, and have a chance to accept it or deny it. Mattew 24:14 says, "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Everyone single person on the planet will have heard the truth before Jesus comes back. It is then their choice to believe it.

Tomorrow I will have another question and answer about the rapture.

Sunday, May 5, 2013

Rapture Series: Day 2

Question: What will it look like when Jesus comes back?

Answer: It will only last a second when people vanish out of their clothes. In Revelation 1:7 it says "'look, he is coming with the clouds,' and 'every eye will see him, even those who pierced him;' and all peoples on earth 'will mourn because of him.' So shall it be! Amen." Jesus will come with the clouds means he will be coming in the sky. I imagine him being up in the sky when he takes his followers to heaven with him. In the Bible it says the trumpet will sound when Jesus comes down. I assume those who are raptured will hear the trumpet blow.

*This question is based off of the theory the book series Left Behind: The Kids gives. There is no proof in the Bible of this. This theory of the Rapture is believed by many.

Tomorrow I will have another question and answer about the rapture.

Rapture Series: Day 1

Question: Will everyone see Jesus when he returns?

Answer: Some belive only those who are saved will see him, but others beleive everyone will see. In the Left Behind: The Kids, Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins say that those left behind will not see Jesus. Revelation 1:7 says, " 'Look, he is coming with the clouds,' and 'every eye will see him, even those who pierced him;' and all peoples on earth 'will mourn because of him.' So shall it be! Amen." The Bible says every eye will see him, even those who have sinned against him. This could still mean that only believers will see him, because everyone, including believers, have sinned against God.

*This question is based off of the theory the book series Left Behind: The Kids gives. There is no proof in the Bible of this. This theory of the Rapture is believed by many.

Tomorrow I will have another question and answer about the rapture.

The Rapture Series

Starting tomorrow I will do a series about the Rapture. In Left Behind: The Kids the whole book revolves around the Rapture.

Before I begin though, I would like to make something clear. The Rapture is not proven. Many people believe in it, and many do not. I personally do. The Bible does mention this thing called the "blessed hope." Many, including me, believe it refers to the rapture, even though the word 'rapture' is never used in the Bible.

"...looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ..." Titus 2:13

Are you excited about the series on the Rapture? Comment with any questions you would like to be addressed!

Mark Eisman

First Appearance: Nicolae High (5th book)

Mark Eisman and his cousin met Judd and Vicki at school after the rapture. They were holding Bibles, but they got confiscated. Judd and Vicki saw it, and went up and talked to them. They were one of the first unoriginal members of the Young Tribulation Force. Before the rapture, Mark grew up in a Christian family. His family was really close. They were always with aunts, uncles, and cousins. He had heard over and over the story of Jesus. But he refused to believe it. Until his whole family disappeared, leaving him to finally understand the love of God.
