Jesus' Suffering

In honor of Easter weekend, I would like to share an overview of an article I read on what Jesus went through during His crucifixion.

Jesus had been whipped dozens of times on his bare back. In case you don’t know, that hurts! He was given a crown with thorns. His scalp was cut, and blood would be dripping from his head. He was also stabbed.

Then he was put on the cross. The wood was laid on the ground and Jesus would have laid on it. Then the nails would have gone through his wrists and ankles. Have you ever hit your funny bone? Those same nerves would have slowly been cut through. Just imagine the pain Jesus was going through!

Then he was pushed up. As he was being pushed upright both shoulders were dislocated, because the weight was too much for his arms. Have you ever felt middle-east weather? It’s not comfortable, it’s hot! So Jesus was probably sweaty, along with bloody. That’s pretty uncomfortable! Being stretched out the way he was made it really hard to breath. He had to lift himself up, stretching the needle in his ankles, in order to get a full breath.

BUT, that wasn’t even the worst! The physical pain couldn’t have measured up to the emotional pain he had, when God rejected Him. The comfort we have, is no matter what happens, God will always be with us. Jesus didn’t have that comfort. God had to reject him, because he carried all the sins of the world. That must’ve been the worst feeling anyone has ever had!

 

 

Jesus suffered tremendously for us, and we should never forget that.

 

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:30

 

Satan's Doom

I find the millennium the most confusing part in Revelation. At the beginning of the millennium Satan will be thrown into the Abyss. He will be in the Abyss so he cannot deceive people anymore. Once the thousand years are up, Satan will be set free for a short time. While Satan is free, he will gather four nations and prepare them for battle. But of course, God will win, and Satan will face defeat. God will then cast Satan and all the other nonbelievers into the lake of fire, also known as Hell. All the believers will go live on the new, perfect earth.

The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.

Mark of the Beast

The mark of the beast is described in Revelation 14:9-12.


9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment will rise forever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” 12 This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.


Explanations:

Revelation 14:9 - The mark of the beast (Antichrist) will be tattooed on the forehead or right hand.

Revelation 14:10 - When a person takes the mark of the beast they will no longer be able to get saved. Once they've taken the mark they will go to hell when they die or when Jesus comes back at the end of the tribulation.
Revelation 14:11 - When unbelievers are thrown in the lake of fire, they will be tormented day and night, forever and ever.

Revelation 14:12 - Those who refuse the mark of the beast will go through trials and hardships. Many will be beheaded. But in the end, their eternity will be with God in heaven.

A fellow blogger, and friend of mine writes about Left Behind. She is very knowledgeable on the book series. Here is her latest article:

"Rayford Steele airline pilot is married to Irene Steele, whom he met in college while they were both doing ROTC. They married when he was a senior and she was a sophomore. They soon had their first child, Chloe, and eight years later, they had Rayford Jr. or Raymie. Irene had first started to go to church after a death in the family, but switched to New Hope Village Church, and soon got saved, along with Raymie. Rayford and Chloe resisted, and made fun of them. Rayford hated this so much that he often thought of having an affair with his flight attendant, the beautiful Hattie Durham. One night, he decided it would be his night, the night he finally made a move towards a relationship. That was the night everything changed..... Many of the passengers and even some staff disappeared. He turned that plane around, and headed back home, only to find his wife and son gone, although he did get news that Chloe was still alive."

Remake in the Making

It's official! Left Behind: The Remake began shooting on March 18th (this past Monday). Paul Lalonde is the producer. Nicolas Cage is playing Rayford Steele. Chad Michael Murray is playing Cameron "Buck" Williams. Ashley Tisdale is playing Chloe Steele. Further announcements have not been made.

Buck Williams Article

As the book mentions, Buck Williams was a journalist for Global Weekly before the Rapture. Later on, he wrote "The Truth," which were a newspaper-like articles about the Tribulation. A fellow blogger wrote an excerpt of Buck's article when he worked for Global Weekly. Here it is:

"Many are looking for the cause behind the world wide disappearances. One personal said “This is nothing more than Karma; the bad people have gotten their due. We, the good in heart, shall stay and remain and live in harmony.” Not all believe that though. One source believes that aliens are to blame. “Aliens, not those little green people, no sophisticated ones, with weapons, and nuclear. They sought out those with a common factor. Maybe it was blood type, or it was IQ. Why the babies were taken, well I guess we can never know. Maybe they were taken for servants of the aliens. “

Another recourse believes that Christ Jesus has come back for his own. “It was the Rapture” he says “Christ came back for the Christians. The small children were taken because they are too young to understand. What comes next is a hard time. An evil leader will rise, and there will be seven years of pain and death. We must all believe in Christ, it is our only hope.” That man’s wife also believed that, and she disappeared.

All know that Nicolae Carpathia, and his crew believe that is was nuclear radiation. And that merely the bad are gone now, and we shall have a peaceful time now that they are gone. They have told us that we have nothing to worry about.

Many people believe that it was merely a wiping away of the bad people, but weather there will be more to disappear, we do not know. What comes next is also unknown, but for now we must all band together and be strong."

Bruce Barnes

Bruce Barnes is in both Left Behind and Left Behind: The Kids. Although he has a large role in Left Behind: The Kids, he is not one of the four main characters. In Left Behind Bruce is one of the original members of the Tribulation Force, and has a larger role in the series. With Bruce being a bigger character in the adult series, those who read that series will know more about him. Just like my friend and fellow blogger! She runs the blog, Left Behind and is an avid Left Behind reader. Here is a short summery about Bruce Barnes, one of my personal favorite characters.

 

 

"Bruce Barnes, assistant pastor at New Hope Village Church, in Mount Prospect, looked at it all as a story. It was more like head-knowledge to him. He never acted on the truth he told others. His wife, and three children, ages of 5, 3, and 1, didn't know the wiser. One night he was up to late reading, his wife asking him to turn off the light, when everything and everyone he knew disappeared.... all of his family and most of the church was gone. He immediately repented, and became a real Christian."
