Movie Remake

It has been many months since my last post. This is a one-time post on the movie remake of Left Behind.

The movie came out October 3, 2014. Critics views have not been favorable. The movie was re-made from the original movies starring Kirk Cameron and Brad Johnson. The new movie stars Nicolas Cage and Chad Michael Murray.

Revelation Verses

Here are some of my favorite verses from Revelation:

Revelation 1:5, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood.

Revelation 3:20, Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Revelation 20:11, Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.

And my absolute favorite...

Revelation 22:20-21, He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

Revelation is a wonderful book from the Bible. I love reading it and learning about what will happen during the Tribulation. What is your favorite verse from the book of Revelation?

Jerry Jenkins' Favorite Bible Verse

Co-author of Left Behind: The Kids, Jerry B. Jenkins has favorite Bible verses like many of you. Here they are:

  • Matthew 5:16, In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
  • Psalm 91:1-2, Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

Fun Fact!

Here's a little fun fact for you. In book number five (Nicolae High) Judd and Vicki meet John and Mark who are one grade older than Judd. In book number seven (Busted) when Judd graduates, Mark and John are also graduating. The writers held them back a grade, or just didn't realize it. I guess that was a mistake in the book!

Movie Changes

Who has seen the movie for the adult series of Left Behind? There are three movies: "Left Behind: The Movie", "Left Behind II: Tribulation Force", "Left Behind: World at War".

A fellow blogger who is a big fan of the adult series wrote a short article on the changes made from the books to the movies. With the remake of "Left Behind: The Movie" in the making, there are bound to be changes from the book series in the new movie as well. Here are some of the most noticeable changes:

"First Movie-  In the Books, Buck writes for a magazine, but in the movies he is a newscaster. Another change is the meeting of Buck with Chloe and Ray.  In the books, Buck and Hattie never knew each other before the Rapture, but in the movies they did. In the movie, Ray kisses Hattie, but in the book that does not happen. Some other small changes ( including character appearances).

"Second Movie- Change of Ivy`s name ( in books she is Alice and is replacing Lucinda`s assistant.) In the movie, Ivy gets saved, but in the books she does not. The scene where Ray and Buck leave does not happen in the books, they leave at separate times for Israel. And when that scene does happen, Chloe says " Feel Like a cookie?" And Buck says " Why do i look like one?" While that does happen, it happens in the first book, when they first meet.

"Third movie- While many get sick, the Bibles ate not poisoned in the books. Bruce himself, in the books, is poisoned by Nicolae. Chloe doe not get sick in the book. After their wedding, Chloe and Buck do not disperse in the book. And the parts with the President do happen in the books, but not that detailed. He does not get saved in the books."

Ryan Daley Pre-Rapture

This is a little preview of what Ryan's life was like before the rapture.

Ryan Daley
Ryan and his parents ignored the truth. Unlike the others, Ryan did not grow up in a Christian home. Ryan’s best friend, Raymie Steele, would explain God’s love to him. Ryan would go and ask his parents about God, but they would tell him it is just a fantasy. Ryan was in middle school before the rapture. He was a typical kid. He enjoyed playing tag and hide-and-go-seek. He doesn’t like being alone, he prefers to have someone around. He was pretty immature before the rapture. Ryan was home alone, his dad was on a plane, and his mom was going to the O’Hare Airport to pick up Mr. Daley, when people vanished, right out of their clothes.

Lionel Washington Pre-Rapture

This is a little preview of what Lionel's life was like before the rapture.

Lionel Washington

Lionel was always a phony. He grew up in a Christian atmosphere. His parents, siblings, and even long distance cousins were Christians. Lionel acted like he believed in God, but he was more interested in the way of his uncle, Andre Dupree. Uncle Andre was a drug dealer, an alcoholic, and a thief. Lionel wasn’t interested in going to jail or becoming an alcoholic, but he admired the risk Andre took. His mom, Lucinda, knew Cameron “Buck” Williams, because she was the senior editor of Global Weekly. His older sister, Clarice, knew Vicki because she rode the bus with her. One evening Lionel was excited to get a visit from Andre. They slept in the basement, and when Lionel woke up, he was shocked to find his family (except for Andre) were gone.

Vicki Byrne Pre-Rapture

This is a little preview of what Vicki's life was like before the rapture.

Vicki Byrne

Vicki was a rebel. She tried to “fit in” with the wrong crowd. She lived in a trailer park with her dad Tom, her mom Dawn and her younger sister Jeanni. She had an older brother who was away at college in Michigan. She felt that she needed to be tough, in order to appear cool, since all the kids in school looked down on kids who lived in trailer parks. Her parents smoked and drank alcohol a lot. She took after them and would sneak away from her trailer at night to smoke and drink. When she was twelve (two years before the rapture), a pastor came to the trailer park during a wild party and preached. Her parents and her younger sister accepted Jesus into their hearts. Even her brother, who was in Michigan believed. Her family tried to tell her the truth of the word of God, but she wouldn’t listen. She always thought her parents were crazy to believe in God, and to think that Jesus would come back one day. That is until one night, when everything turned upside down, and her parent’s predictions of Jesus’ return had come true.

Judd Thompson Pre-Rapture

This is a little preview of what Judd's life was like before the rapture:

Judd Thompson Jr.
Judd didn't beleive in God. He would wear dark clothes and try to act as “un-Christian” as possible. At church he would make it known that he was not interested and didn’t care about anything that was being said. He was light skinned with short hair and a goatee (a patch of hair on his chin). He was skinny and in pretty good shape. He did not get along with his mom and dad, Judd Thompson Sr. He loved his younger brother and sister Mac and Marci, but was embarrassed by them. He wanted to get out of his parents rule, so he decided to steal money from his dad and run away to Europe. On the plane is when the rapture occurred. His parents and siblings were taken during the rapture, but Judd had been left behind.

Fun Fact!

Originally, Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins were planning on writing 48 books for the series. Although, as we know, only 40 books were published. The extra eight books were going to fill in the two year gap that is in the series. The books still turned out really well though!
