President Gerald Fitzhugh

Gerald Fitzhugh is the fiction President of the United States when the Rapture happens. His wife was Raptured. When Nicolae Carpathia becomes the Secretary General of the United Nations and takes action to promote world peace, Fitzhugh is on board and agrees to help. Eventually Fitzhugh decides against Carpathia and parts ways from him. He dies eight-teen months after the Rapture (I don't believe this is mentioned in the kids series).

In the third Left Behind movie (World at War), Gerald Fitzhugh is a lead character. A big difference in the movie than in the book is that he becomes a believer before being killed. In the book he does not get saved.

Her husband died from hypothermia when he was looking for food for Lenore and baby Tolan. She trained to be a nurse. She and Tolan eventually left Vicki and the others and moved. Lionel & Ryan Become Friends

Lionel and Ryan are the two youngest original Young Tribulation Force members. In the second book, Second Chance, they decide to stay together the night after the rapture because they are frightened. They first go to Ryan's house, and decide to set up a tent in the back yard since Ryan doesn't want to go inside after his parents died. Here is a little preview of that part.

The Daley's kitchen was similar to Lionel's own. He could hear Ryan dragging stuff from the garage to the backyard, and he hoped the boy would invite him to stay. Lionel would have to go home and get some of his stuff, but he didn't want to be in his house any more than Ryan wanted to be in this one.

Lionel found a bunch of snacks and soft drinks and went directly into the backyard from the kitchen. He wondered if Ryan would be too shy to invite him. "You want some company tonight?" Lionel offered.

"You'd stay with me?"

"Sure! I don't want to be alone tonight any more than you do."

Once the tent was set up - snacks, flashlights and all - the boys headed toward Lionel's house, just over a mile away. Ryan wasn't saying much. Lionel had never been a big talker either, but when he wasn't talking he felt like crying, and he assumed Ryan felt the same. "I guess we don't have to worry about going to school tomorrow," Lionel said.

"Yeah. I heard on the news that enough students and teachers and parents disappeared that it might be a long time before school opens again."

Lionel snorted. "So we can be thankful for a little good news in all this mess." That wasn't really funny, of course. This was a nightmare from which neither of them would awaken.

O'Hare Airport Ordeal

In the second book of Left Behind: The Kids, Judd and Vicki make the short trek from Mount Prospect, Illinois, to Chicago, Illinois. It is only a 20 minute drive.

But, since the rapture has just occurred, getting to the O'Hare airport takes hours.

Judd had tried to run away to England before the rapture. He went to the O'Hare airport and bought a plane ticket. He had driven his parents car, and it is now stuck in the parking garage. Judd and Vicki try to get the car out of the garage.

Arguably, one of the more frightening and exciting moments in this book, at this time.

A nearly deafening engine roar and high-pitched squeal made Judd jump, and he looked up just in time to see workers diving out of the way of the Blazer. It had been lodged into the guardrail at a crazy angle, and apparently someone decided to set something on the accelerator and shift it into gear while others attempted to rock it free.

Whatever they had lodged against the gas pedal had made the engine race at top speed. Three wheels spun crazily, causing the screeching, but the forth bit deep into the rail. The Blazer shuddered and shook, appearing as if it might explode. The tires sent smelly smoke everywhere.
As Judd and Vicki watched, the stuck tire somehow dislodged and sent the Blazer nose first into the low concrete ceiling with a horrific crash. All four wheels now burning rubber, the empty
Blazer hit the floor, bouncing and careening into the cars around it.

The four-wheel-drive vehicle lurched directly in front of Judd, slammed the next guardrail, and flipped over forward, landing atop the last car he had moved. It drove the roof of that car all the way to the seat and rested atop the wreckage, tires still racing. The workers sprinted to the crash, and one reached in to turn off the engine.

Judd sat there with his mouth open. He turned back to Vicki, whose eyes were wide and unblinking. "We could have been killed," she said. "If that had happened a couple minutes ago, we would be dead for sure."

Do you like this scene from the book? What is your all time favorite?

Second Chance

The second book in the series is called Second Chance. How does it start out? Here is a snit-bit of the first chapter.

"Judd Thompson Jr. had always sized up situations quickly. It was clear to him that of the four kids who had fled to nearby New Hope Village Church during the greatest crisis the world would ever see, he was the oldest. The redhead, the only girl, had a hard, bitter edge to her. But still, if Judd had to guess, he would have said she was younger than he was.

Ah, but he didn't care. How could he ever care about anything anymore? The end of the world, at the world as he knew it, had come. Millions all over the world had disappeared right out of their clothes, leaving everything but flesh and bone behind.

It wasn't that Judd didn't know what had happened. He knew all too well. As he had heard in church and Sunday school and at home his whole life, Jesus Christ had come back to rapture his church, and Judd had been left behind."

This week I will have more posted about the second book in the series, Second Chance. Stay tuned!

Teens to Adults

When the authors of Left Behind: The Kids were writing the books, they originally had in mind that the book series would be for teenagers and young adults. Specifically 12-14 years old. But now the series is being read by many adults as well!

Speaking of "Teens to Adults," Judd, Vicki, Lionel, and Ryan would all be adults by the end of the Tribulation. If all of them make it through the whole Tribulation, their ages would go as follows:

Judd - 16 - 23
Vicki - 14 - 21
Lionel - 13 - 20
Ryan - 12 - 19

It's hard to imagine them all of the original Young Tribulation Force members being adults by the end of the book series!

Son of Perdition

A good friend of mine runs the blog "The Tribulation." She studies Revelation, and prophecies written throughout the Bible. Enjoy this article from her blog about the Son of Perdition.

"Only two people in the Bible are referred to as the Son of Perdition: Judas Iscariot and antichrist. Both of these men were indwelt with Satan himself. Judas Iscariot is the disciple that betrayed Jesus. After turning Jesus in, he hung himself. Antichrist's story is much longer though. He did much evil without Satan inside of him, but after he rises from the dead at the halfway point of the Tribulation and being insanely with Satan, there will truly be a new meaning to the word "antichrist". Antichrist will enforce a mark that  every man must bear in order to buy and sell anything. The punishment for not bearing the Mark is death. Though getting this mark, seemingly good at first, looks like it will save you from death, it will actually do the opposite. By taking this mark, your eternity is thereby sealed to none other than Hell."

The Underground

Ever wonder what an issue of 'The Underground' was like? Well, I have an issue here concerning today's world (not the tribulation). Stay tuned! There are more to come!

IS EVOLUTION FOR REAL?

By: ANONYMOUS

For years evolution has been taught in schools around the country, but many concepts of evolution have been questioned. Many people are curious to know: IS evolution for real? There have been many theories, and possibility’s, but there is one, solid answer that has been proven correct.

The answer, is evolution for real?...

NO. Plain and simple, no. There are many facts of evolution that are absolutely impossible. Evolution is a myth. You want to know the truth? The truth is creation. Creation is a fact, not an opinion. Let me explain creation, and you might see why it seems more practical, over evolution.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1. The fact is, God made this world, the people, the animals, everything. It makes more since that we were planned creation, and not ‘formed’ by chance. I find it more assuring that there is an explanation for every little detail of our existence on this earth, instead of a shady explanation. I have made a chart of ‘Creation vs. Evolution.’ Hopefully you will see that creation is far truer than evolution.

CREATION                                                                    EVOLUTION

God created us in his own image                               We were ‘formed’ through apes

God spoke and the world was made                     A cell exploded and the world just
                                                                                    happened to be made

God gives people pigment in their skin                                       ?
that makes them appear a certain color

The world was created 4,000-8,000 years ago          The world evolved billions of years ago

The worlds formation was planned                        The worlds formation just happened

The world is given everything it needs                      The world is low on resources

Man sins because his father, dating                        No one knows why man sins
back to Adam sinned

As you can see, creation has all the answers (and they’re reasonable), evolution does not. I only covered seven out of thousands of questions about creation and evolution. There are so many unanswered questions about evolution, creation has all the answers.

Many people say, “Creation is just a religion. It’s crazy.” If you think creation is crazy because it is a religion, then you must realize that evolution is a religion too. Evolution is a belief, which makes it a religion. Schools say, “Religion isn’t aloud,” but they are teaching a religion. Many say that people who believe in creation only believe it on faith, which isn’t enough. Were you there when the world ‘evolved?’ I didn’t think so. You weren’t there; nobody was, so people who believe in evolution also believe it on, faith. Many people who believe in creation also know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. People who believe this are not “religious nuts.” They have a personal relationship with God. I ask that you consider creationists point of view, and consider it as your own.

Meeting the Characters

If you could meet any of the characters from Left Behind The Kids, which would you choose? What would you ask them?

Here is an answer from one of my readers:

"I would choose to meet Judd Thompson. What would I ask him? I would ask him why he left Vicki and the rest of the Young Tribulation Force (except Lionel) for three years while he was in Israel, New Babylon, France, and Petra."

And another answer from one of my readers:

"I would choose Ryan Daley. I would ask why he brought Phoenix, his dog home while searching for Bibles. I like that he brought the dog home and took care of it, but would it be hard to have a pet during the Tribulation?"
